Nudging acne by topical beta-lipohydroxy acid (LHA), a new comedolytic agent

Beta-Lipohydroxy acid (LHA) is a lipophilic derivative of salicylic acid. It exhibits a potent keratolytic effect due to the dissociation of the corneodesmosomes in the outmost layers of the stratum corneum. In addition, topical applications of a 2% LHA formulation increased the thicknesses of the epidermal germinative layers, stratum Malpighi, and filaggrin layer.
